Chippawa – Montreal – Bahamas – Panama – Auckland – Brisbane – Yeppoon
If you have read the first entry in our blog, you’d understand the struggle of moving half way around the world. Difficulties with procedures in packing, lack of tools to do the job and some bad timing. Since we arrived here in Yeppoon the weather has been outstanding. Blue skies, rarely see a cloud and a beautiful sea breeze. Yet after 100 days of waiting for our most cherished possessions, the biggest storm since 2013 hits towns just south of us and floods the main highway! Coincidence? Not sure… but what’s 6 more days of waiting when you’ve already waited 100.
When the 40’ sea container arrived in Australia, it was completely emptied to a customs warehouse for inspection. There was really no inspection that we could tell as the boxes were all sealed as when they left Niagara. However, we paid a hefty fee for this service and a little bit of tax for the motorcycle. All of our contents were then re-packed into 2X 20’ sea containers for delivery.
Here’s actual footage of its journey from Willoughby to Apollo!
Upon arrival, the contents were quickly unloaded to specific rooms of the house. About 4 ½ hours of hard work. The movers were thrilled that they didn’t have to open one box! I asked them to only unwrap our furniture and leave the boxes for me. Although this seemed like a great idea at first, I quickly realized there were over 200 cardboard boxes that would need to be taken away.
Now the fun begins of organizing our ‘stuff’. Life was much simpler without it all, but we’re certainly thrilled to have our things that remind us of Chippawa.
Love the video of adventure of your belongings! You have a lot of work ahead of you but will be aclabour of love! Have fun!
Surprised they moved everything to two! A ton of work. Hope everything is still in tact!
Immigration removes it all from the original shipping container to ‘check’ it all so we were expecting it to show up in a different container/truck.
Thanks for sharing….looks lovely, look.forward to the day of seeing it all set up and enjoying the sites with the two of you, love Nicky, have a great day or is it night?? xoxo
