Hello City

Hello City

Rob and I just returned from nearly a week in South Australia’s capital city, Adelaide. I had a conference there so Rob decided to join me so we could explore a little bit of the city together.

We started our exploring by travelling an hour outside of the city to Barossa valley for some wine tasting.

It was fun to try out some of the smaller wineries in the area, but we also made it to Penfolds. We have always loved Australian wines so it was a cool experience to taste wines in such a well-known Australian wine region.

And one of my favourite parts … we got to see some beautiful fall colours! We were only a few days away from the official start of winter in Adelaide, but many of the trees were still holding onto those gorgeous leaves!

On our last stop, we were even tempted with Gin 🙂

We spent our second day doing a whole lot of walking. Even though it was nearly winter in Adelaide, it was still beautiful temperatures for outdoor activities as long as you had a light jacket. We wandered through some of the parklands near downtown.

And even spent time at the Adelaide Zoo. We seem to be doing a lot of Zoo and wildlife sanctuary stuff here, something I was never really interested in before. Adelaide Zoo was beautiful with so many beautiful plants, trees, and birds, you almost forgot you were even in the zoo!

Seriously, could meerkats be any cuter?!

This might look like an ordinary pelican, but they’re huge! They were as tall as my chest! We’d seen signs in the park earlier to vacate the park if you saw a pelican and I was dying laughing. Then I saw one!!!
We have Black Cockatoos in the trees around here all the time. They’re such beautiful (and very large!) birds.

While I was working (indoors at the Convention Centre, but at least I had a nice view)…

Rob did more walking and exploring. After deciding he needed one of these…

He managed to sneak his way into the empty stadium.

And he surprised me with concert tickets for an indie UK band playing at this cool club in town. So fun to be able to go out and enjoy live music. We’re both missing what an accessible thing this was to do when living in Niagara! I’m not sure we could even count the number of concerts and live music events we’ve been to!

It was fun spending some time in the city. We enjoyed being able to wander to beautiful restaurants and spent the last evening sipping drinks on a rooftop bar overlooking the city – Perfect!

But of course, like every vacation, it’s always nice to come home!

  1. Looks like we’ll have to go there! Funny to see you wearing jackets! And I’m happy to see you enjoying the wildlife so much! 😘😎🐶

  2. It was fun to wear tights and boots again haha! You are going to love the wildlife here Mom!

  3. I think Meerkats are super cute. I just bought some S.African olive oil mainly because their logo was a meerkat. I did taste test it first but the meerkat was the clincher. Just like I have been known to buy wine if it has a nice label 😜. So did you get Rob the Ferrari as a surprise for his birthday? I haven’t seen any posts yet!

    1. I was killing myself laughing watching the meerkats. They are super cute! I buy wine the same way Janet 🙂 No Ferrari for Rob…he had to settle for a day off and a home cooked meal (by me for once!)

We'd Love to Hear From You!
