Picking your life up and moving across the world is complicated so it’s not surprising that we’ve had a busy few months since arriving here. But as busy as we’ve been settling in, we’re trying to still take time out to relax and enjoy this beautiful place we’ve chosen to live. Sometimes that just means relaxing by the pool or going for a hike through the trails or down to the beach, and sometimes it means getting out and being a little more adventurous.
A few weeks ago, my friend Leisa took me with her and girls to go care for her horses. Not only is the farm surrounded by beautiful scenery, but her horses are just gorgeous!
I even got to ride one of them!
It was so interesting to learn a little bit about what goes into looking after them. Leisa’s promised to teach me the ins and outs so I’m looking forward to going back again.
This past weekend, we went and explored the Causeway in kayaks that my fabulous colleague Tina gave us when we arrived in Yeppoon. We’ve had them a little while now but just finally had time to give them a try.
The Causeway is a salt water lake that actually reminded me a lot of the lagoon we’ve kayaked in in Tobago. At least what I’ve envisioned it to look like in the daytime since we’ve only ever paddled there at night. The edges of the Causeway are lined with mangroves which look really cool but for some reason we didn’t think to take a photo of them. We’ll have to do that next time. I’m looking forward to doing some more kayaking soon and who knows, maybe we’ll even get brave enough to try them out in the ocean!
Horse back riding….so envious! Glad to see you were wearing a helmet!
You can thank Leisa for that mom 🙂
